60th anniversary of liberation of Auschwitz: Canadian government uses occasion to promote aggression

JANUARY 24 marked the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red Army. The United Nations General Assembly held the first ever commemoration of this anniversary as an opportunity for UN member states to reflect on the tragedy and speak against its repetition. Canada was represented by its Minister of Foreign Affairs Pierre Pettigrew who used the occasion to promote Canada’s “new multi-lateralism” called the “responsibility to protect.” Continue reading
