90th Anniversary of the Death of Antonio José Sucre

Hands Off Venezuela! Lift the Sanctions Now!

Thursday, June 4 — 7:30 pm (Eastern)

Alba Social Movements Canada, Ottawa Chapter is organizing an internet zoom discussion with Mr. Carlos Ron, Deputy Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on June 4. Deputy Minister Ron has been asked to elaborate on how the people of Venezuela are organized to overcome the invasions and sabotage by U.S. led mercenaries and defend the victories of the Bolivarian Revolution. He has also been asked to speak on how Venezuela is achieving important successes in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic despite the killer sanctions.

The remarks by Deputy Minister Ron will be followed by a question and answer period. Participants are invited to limit their questions or comments to 3 minutes to allow wide participation.

June 4 is also the 190th anniversary of the death of Antonio José Sucre, one of the legendary leaders of the fight for independence from Spain. Sucre, also known as the Grand Marshal of Ayacucho, was one of Simón Bolivar’s greatest generals, a statesman and one of his closest friends. Sucre served as the fourth President of Peru and as President of Bolivia. He was killed by assassins at Berrecuecos near Pasto, on June 4, 1830, in an ambush by enemies of Bolivar on his journey back to Quito.
