Calendar of Events. International Women’s Day 2021

On March 8, International Women’s Day, around the world women organize rallies, marches and gatherings of all kinds to assert their claim as women to a say and control over all the affairs of society. Their struggle to affirm their collective rights is part and parcel of the fight to defend the rights of all.

One hundred and ten years ago, International Women’s Day was established to highlight the fight of women for peace, for their rights as workers, and for their right to participate in political affairs and to take their place in the vanguard of all fields of human endeavour.

The march is making the following demands:
• that women be provided with an income that covers all basic needs;
• that all forms of violence against women be recognized and ended;
• full recognition of rights for migrant and immigrant women;
• climate justice, access to drinking water and food security;
• justice for Indigenous women and girls and respect for their rights.
Physical distancing and wearing of masks is mandatory.

Car Caravan to Support Hotel and Hospitality Workers
Monday, March 8 — 12:00-1:00 pm
Support the thousands of hotel and hospitality workers, mostly women, who have been put out of work by hotels that refuse to recall their long-term workers and are using mass firings to strip away the workers’ gains.
Participants can also join the caravan on foot, or take part via Facebook Live
