Transport Canada has announced another $2.1 billion of state funds for the Trade and Transportation Corridors Initiative to serve the global oligopolies and their control of the Canadian and international economy.[1]

A Ministry press release on July 4 states the Trade and Transportation Corridors Initiative is “[to] build stronger, more efficient transportation corridors to international markets…. Canadian businesses will be able to better compete, grow and create even more jobs well into the future.” Continue reading

Sometime in the afternoon of April 8, bunker fuel started leaking from a ship anchored in English Bay in the outer harbour of the Port of Vancouver as it waited to load its cargo of grain at the docks. At 5:10 pm, a recreational boater noticed a large oil slick and called 911. The call was passed on to the Canadian Coast Guard, the designated lead agency for incidents like this. A Port Metro Vancouver boat appeared on the scene around 6:00 pm. Continue reading

Implications of Asia Pivot military strategy for Atlantic Canada

Note to readers. DIFFERENT analysts have underlined various economic factors behind the U.S. offensive in Asia with its Asia Pivot military strategy, of which Canada is an integral part, as China has now become the major trading partner of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The big banks and oil-energy and mining monopolies in Canada have their own self-serving interests to expropriate the resources of foreign workers and lands.

The ports of Halifax, Saint John and Maritimes Canada, though bordering the Atlantic Ocean, are not remote from the aggressive offensive of these vested interests in the Pacific and Indian oceans. Continue reading
