All Out for the January 25 Day of Action: No War on Iran! All Foreign Troops Out of Iraq!

The Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) calls on all peace-loving people to join in the January 25 Global Day of Protest to condemn targeted assassinations and the threat of war against Iran.

It also expresses its sincere condolences to all the families and friends who lost loved ones in the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752. The fact that civilian aircraft were permitted to fly in an active war zone leading to such tragic consequences is a serious concern. Continue reading

Canada’s Iraq war mission extended

Since September 11, 2001, Canada has consistently been expanding its foreign military and police presence in Central and West Asia under U.S. and NATO command. While openly participating in the invasion of Afghanistan, the Chrétien Liberal government would not openly join the “Coalition of the Willing” and provide more than a handful of troops for the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, despite having provided troops, warships and jets during the previous U.S. invasion of Iraq – the Persian Gulf War. The Trudeau government has now taken up the challenge to provide an air of legitimacy for Canada’s ongoing military actions in Iraq and their expansion. On June 29, the Trudeau government announced that its mission in Iraq would be extended for two more years and that the mission would be “adjusted.” This is a far cry from its election claim that it would end Canada’s combat mission in Iraq, giving the impression that it was against foreign military escalation. Shortly after being elected, the Trudeau government launched a new mission in the Middle East, focusing on Iraq and neighbouring countries such as Jordan and Lebanon. Continue reading

Canada 150: The media’s obscene heroization of special ops and the ‘longest kill shot’

The Canadian Forces who only “advise and assist” = arm, aim, assassinate, annihilate.

At the same time Trudeau and the monopoly media are “celebrating” killing people at distances of over three kilometres, the Trudeau Liberals blatantly deny that we are even involved in combat operations. “One wonders what effect that has upon soldiers simultaneously being asked to kill people and then being told that what they are actually doing is ‘advising and assisting’.” | EL JONES*

Canadian media has been celebrating the world record for “longest kill shot” reportedly earned by a Canadian sniper in Iraq:

A Canadian sniper working alongside Iraqi forces in their fight against ISIS successfully struck a member of the militant group from a distance of 3,540 metres, Canada’s military confirmed Thursday.

The sniper is a member of the elite Joint Task Force 2 special forces unit, but citing operation security the military provided no details about how or when the incident took place.

The Globe and Mail first reported the sniper record Thursday and quoted unnamed military sources who said the kill shot disrupted an ISIS attack on Iraqi security forces.

The shot surpasses the previous record held by a British soldier, who in 2009 shot a Taliban fighter in Afghanistan from a distance of 2,475 metres. Continue reading

No to Canada’s participation in US-led regime change in Syria

Oppose the use of force, provocation and state terrorism

Vigorous and spirited rally on October 1 outside the U.S. embassy in Ottawa organized by the Syrian Arab Association of Canada in response to the U.S. war crime in Deir Ezzor killing scores of Syrian soldiers.

Vigorous and spirited rally on October 1 outside the U.S. embassy in Ottawa organized by the Syrian Arab Association of Canada in response to the U.S. war crime in Deir Ezzor killing scores of Syrian soldiers.

The Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) condemns the escalating use of force, provocation and state terrorism by U.S. imperialism and its agents in Syria aimed at sabotaging a political solution to the conflict. This includes the killing of more than 82 Syrian soldiers on September 17 by U.S. warplanes, attacks two days later on aid vehicles of the United Nations and Syrian Red Crescent killing 21 civilians and a similar provocation on September 20 killing relief workers from the International Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations.
