1. Oppose Imperialist Interference in Cuba and Violation of Diplomatic Norms

CALENDAR OF EVENTS
A campaign of interference in Cuba’s internal affairs is being undertaken by U.S. diplomats, politicians and anti-Cuba terrorists in the U.S. This is being done by inciting Cuban youth to take up counterrevolutionary activities, in flagrant violation of the rules governing diplomatic relations.
On November 30, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, through his official Twitter account, denounced the direct participation of the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Havana, Timothy Zúñiga-Brown, in inciting and assisting in illegal acts against public order and health standards in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, the Director General in charge of the U.S. at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex), pointed out “the serious violations of the functions as diplomat and head of mission” committed by Zúñiga-Brown. “None of the present world problems can be solved with the use of force”
August 13, 1926 – November 25, 2016
Teachers, construction workers, workers, students, relatives and guests:
We will see how this goes because ceremonies in stadiums, and similar places like this coliseum, are always complicated since part of the audience are behind you, some are on one side, some are on the other, and when somebody calls out, “I can’t hear you,” then the problems begin. (Applause and shouts)
Yesterday (Shouts of: “We can’t hear you over here!”)… All right, then I will leave and talk to you on TV. (Shouts of “No!) Make a bit of an effort. You over there, who seem to be having the hardest time, have some patience and help us to maintain order here today. (Shouts of: “You can hear it, you can feel it, Fidel is here.”) Continue reading

(April 11) – Even before the 7th Summit of the Americas of the Organization of American States (OAS) opened in Panama on April 10, a sharp struggle erupted against flagrant and ugly provocations brazenly organized against Cuba and the principles of sovereignty, democracy and the equality of all nations, big and small. In the 1960s, the agency sought to fight Communism and the people’s movements for rights through subversion of the youth and student movement. There’s little reason to think its tactics have changed. An inadvertent confession | TOM HAYDEN
Nation (Dec. 2) – Only once in a while does a book come along that sheds new light on the 1960s. Karen Paget’s forthcoming Patriotic Betrayal (Yale University Press) is just such a work, telling the inside story of how the Central Intelligence Agency corrupted the natural and democratic growth of students’ rights movement by infiltrating the National Student Association (NSA) and directing it to its Cold War ends.
According to an investigation by the Associated Press, the U.S. Agency for International Development, USAID, attempted to infiltrate the Cuban hip-hop movement as part of a covert project to destabilize the country. Continue reading
A group of former diplomats – including some very interventionist ones – former members of the US legislative and executive branches, retired military officers, current bankers and corporate officials, NGO heads, and some others, have sent an open letter to President Obama asking that he take action to facilitate the penetration of the Cuban economy through actions that are within his power to take. Excerpt from the recent speech by Raúl Castro Ruz to the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) on Feb. 22:
Before closing, I must address the events which are taking place in the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We have strongly condemned the violent incidents unleashed by fascist groups, which have led to deaths, tens of injuries, attacks on public institutions and destruction. We know, from our own experience, who is behind them, who finances them and supports these brutal efforts to overthrow the constitutional Venezuelan government.
These events confirm that wherever there might be a government which is not convenient to the interests of ruling circles in the United States, or among some of its European allies, it becomes the target of subversive campaigns. They now use new subtle, occult methods to undermine, without renouncing violence, to disturb the peace and internal order, and prevent governments from concentrating on the struggle for economic and social development, if they are not able to overthrow them.
All the revelations about electronic and satellite espionage by the U.S. National Security Agency give the impression of an omnipotent and omniscience superpower, which sees all and knows all, before which humanity is helpless. They also obscure the role carried out by human agents in espionage, covert operations and destabilization of any government trying to take a path independent of Washington as one more element in the U.S. strategy of domination. JEAN-GUY ALLARD* reports on one CIA agent, active in Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Cuba and Venezuela, who posed as a humanitarian “cultural” official. Nevertheless, this super agent was recently exposed, outed and expelled by the later country in disgrace and the humiliation of her employer. – TS

Granma (Oct. 11) – KELLY Keiderling Franz, the business attaché recently expelled from the U.S. embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, revealed herself as a CIA agent in the relationship she conducted in Havana with the Cuban double agent Raúl Capote.
RHC (Nov. 18) – THE U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) mistakenly released a six-million-dollar subversive program against Cuba after using an uncoded communication line used to send diplomatic documents to Havana. Continue reading
