U.S.-Canadian collaboration in supporting terrorism: ‘White Helmets’ at US-led Halifax war conference

130831-VancouverSyriaAntiWarRally-CharlotteKates-04The U.S.-Canadian collaboration in supporting terrorism is being heroized. In another stunning revelation of the foreign links to the extremists in Syria, the U.S.-led Halifax war conference opening today “will offer delegates an off-the-record session with Raed Al Saleh, co-founder of Syria Civil Defence, a group of volunteer rescue workers better known as the White Helmets” (emphasis added). Fidel Castro on John McCain, the Republican Candidate, February 2008

The death of US Senator John McClain on August 25 is being manipulated to once again push slanderous accusations that POWs in Vietnam were tortured by the internationalist Cubans – using the nickname Fidel to identify one of them, who was capable of “torturing a prisoner to death.” For the information of readers, we are reproducing the full five-part essay by Fidel Castro written in February 2008 refuting the slanders of McCain as well as analyzing the nature of his Republican presidential candidacy. For convenience, all are placed on a single web-page. All of the five parts, in all of the languages to which they’ve been translated, are linked at the bottom of this page. Continue reading

More revelations on the subversive operations of the Turkish intelligence agency MIT against Syria

Erdogan-ISIS Turkey detains soldiers and intelligence agents over seizure of Syria-bound arms shipments. “Is this evidence of a highly organized fifth column within the Turkish military and state apparatus?” The Harper government is involved | TONY SEED

No war on Syria(Revised and updated May 23) – Turkish authorities have arrested dozens of military and security personnel from the National Intelligence Organisation (MIT) in an ongoing investigation of weapons shipments from the NATO bloc country to terrorists in Syria. The sensational development reported by Middle East Eye and regional news agencies (see below) reveals a fierce struggle within the Turkish power structure.

A subsequent Reuters report – Exclusive: Turkish intelligence helped ship arms to Syrian Islamist rebel areas – confirms the MEE report:

Testimony from gendarmerie officers in court documents reviewed by Reuters allege that rocket parts, ammunition and semi-finished mortar shells were carried in trucks accompanied by state intelligence agency (MIT) officials more than a year ago to parts of Syria under Islamist control.

ISIS takfiri terrorists: McCain-Obama’s offspring

Despite propaganda, the ISIS-takfiri terrorists are being supported, trained and armed by the US, NATO and its regional puppets. Washington just signed an agreement with Turkey to train “moderate” rebels to fight in Syria. Isn’t this what the US has been doing in Jordan for more than two year? ZAFAR BANGASH*

Syrian graphic

The horrific video released on February 3 showing the burning death of Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh has sent shockwaves throughout the world. Such barbarism has few parallels in history and certainly none in Islamic history. Islam expressly forbids such cruel punishment despite the demented logic of the takfiris who go by different names: Da‘ish, ISIS, ISIL or even IS. Continue reading

US Senator McCain calls police on anti-Kissinger protesters

Warmongering Sen. McCain, who praises mercenaries in Libya and Syria as his “heroes” and “moderates” and dines with Ukrainian fascists in Kiev, promptly orders the arrest of anti-war Americans and denigrates them as “low-life scum.”

Syria’s UN Ambassador Bashar al-Ja’afari on sovereignty, terrorism, and the failure of the UN

Dr. Bashar al-Ja'afari, a veteran diplomat and Syrian Arab Republic Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Al-Akhbar English/Eva Bartlett

Dr. Bashar al-Ja’afari, a veteran diplomat and Syrian Arab Republic Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations | Al-Akhbar English/Eva Bartlett

By EVA BARTLETT*

On January 8, in his sparsely-furnished New York City office, the Syrian Arab Republic Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar al-Ja’afari, sat down with Al-Akhbar for an interview. Fluent in four languages (Arabic, French, English and Persian), diplomat for three plus decades, Dr al-Ja’afari had much more to say than the generous half hour allowed or what the monopoly media will report. The distinguished diplomat has held his position at the UN since 2006, and lives restricted to a 25-mile radius of New York City. Defiant as always, he discussed the challenges he faces at the UN, explained why the organization has lost its way, and censured Western states and media for their hostility toward the Syrian government.

Is Washington training an insurgent army to ‘occupy’ Syria?

Is the US planning the occupation of Syria by training an unconventional insurgent invasion force? MAHDI DARIUS NAZEMROAYA*

2013.09.09.USDCSyriaAntiWar-CherylLaBash-01cropTHINK regime change in Syria is off the drawing board? Think again. The bombing of the ISIL or ISIS in Syria is part of a brinkmanship campaign leading up to a potential non-conventional invasion, parallel to the re-introduction of the US military to Iraq.

The ISIL and the other anti-government forces in Iraq and Syria are not the only ones to disregard the Iraqi-Syrian border drawn by the British and French by Sykes-Picot in 1916. The US also disregarded the border and international law when it began to illegally bomb Syria. Continue reading

On November 21-23, the sixth annual Halifax International Security Forum (HISF) will be held in Halifax. The organization No Harbour for War is calling on Haligonians to oppose this warmongering gathering and join in an anti-war rally on Saturday, November 22 at 1:00 pm, at Halifax Peace & Freedom Park (formerly Cornwallis Park) at Hollis and South Sts.

2012.11.17.HalifaxAntiWaratHalIntSecForum-mediacoop-04crThe HISF is inextricably linked to NATO, a venue for the U.S.-led aggressive alliance to hold PR events, plan future aggression and spread disinformation about the role of NATO in the world. The HISF has also emerged as one of the mechanisms through which U.S. imperialist agencies determine the Canadian foreign and military agenda. The warmongering meetings are also an occasion for the United States to form new military arrangements to integrate the Canadian Forces under its command. In 2009, U.S. Secretary of State Robert Gates announced that U.S. Marines would henceforth exercise in the Arctic to “defend Canadian sovereignty.” In 2011, Chuck Hagel, U. S. Secretary of Defence, announced that Canada had signed a still secret protocol to join Obama’s Asia Pivot strategy aimed at China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Continue reading

Harper government’s subservience to Senator McCain and US interests (2)

By TONY SEED

The relations between the Government of Canada and U.S. warmonger Senator John McCain are indicative of the subservient relations with the U.S. imperialists that the Harper government imposes on Canada, and what to expect from this year’s Halifax war conference.

Illegitimate honorary degree

On June 18, 2013 then Defence Minister Peter MacKay went to Washington, DC to consult with newly-installed U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. News agencies carried brief reports that the topics included Canada’s participation in Obama’s Asia Pivot strategy and the continued deployment of Canadian warships and aircraft to the Caribbean and off the Pacific coast of Central America. MacKay reaffirmed this commitment in a keynote address to the Inter-American Defense Board of the Organization of American States, also meeting in Washington that same day. Continue reading

McCain! War criminals are not welcome in Canada!

The chain of command: American general inspects his troops in the battlefield, from Libya to Halifax

By TONY SEED

One of the notorious war criminals attending the sixth annual Halifax International Security Forum (HISF) is U.S. Senator John McCain (R). McCain has a long-standing involvement with all manner of U.S. covert operations, dirty wars, aggression and war.

McCain is a former presidential candidate in 2008, the top Republican on the powerful U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, chairman of the board of the International Republican Institute (IRI, an arm of the National Endowment for Democracy of the U.S. government) since 1993, and the leading American champion of aggression, intervention and war throughout the world. Wherever this warmonger goes, violence, anarchy and chaos follow in his wake to the detriment of the people and the cause of peace.

Posted below are some of McCain’s recent misdeeds, to give an indication of the calibre of depravity of some of those attending this year’s HISF.

Sighting. MacKay grovelling before the warmonger, who will be given pride of place at the Halifax International Security Forum

THERE is no alternative but to call things by their name. Anyone with minimal common sense can observe without much effort how little national dignity remains in Ottawa, where all kinds of anti-patriotic actions, national treason and political double-dealing reign supreme and any kind of moral and civic obligation to the Canadian people and their country is denied.

Normally we do not post photos of reactionaries, but this one is so repulsive, disgraceful and treasonous that it must be seen to believed, especially by those who doubt or camouflage the servile relationship between the Harper quislings and the USA and its black content. Many newspapers in Canada carried brief news items of the event in question but, perhaps worried about a hostile response from readers, suppressed the photo. The event itself was swept aside by the media’s drum roll on the Syrian crisis – and as if Canadians should simply accept this as just another passing event in which they should have no stake or concern, and which they cannot change in any case. Halifax International Security Forum: The network of subversion, annexation and war in the making – the ‘Halifax Canada Club’

By TONY SEED

This article is part of an ongoing investigation into the Halifax International Security Forum (HISF), which was formed in 2009 as a covert arm of the U.S. state that presents itself as an “independent” and “non-partisan” body with quasi-permanent status. It was originally published on November 21, 2013 and revised on April 15, 2014; November 17 and 21, 2014; February 17, 2016; and February 28, 2021.

Topics at the 2014 HISF Forum include: “Pipeline Corridors: The Geopolical Role of Energy Infrastructure.” Given that one of the opening plenary sessions is titled “O Say, Can’t You see? The Indispensable Role of the Exceptional Superpower,” one must ask, what is behind this?

120614-NorthVancouver-NoBillC-38-03BatseyAgar

THE Halifax International Security Forum (HISF) aka the Halifax War Conference was formed in 2009 by the Washington-based German Marshall Fund and the Harper ruling clique as a parallel body to established agencies of the Canadian state such as the departments of foreign affairs and national defence. The U.S. board of directors of the HISF includes three members of the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR), the president of Freedom House, and two experienced agents with the National Endowment for Democracy, whose work in subversion throughout the world is nefarious and well-documented. The programmatic work of the CFR, which is also the “media partner” of the HISF, for the integration of Canada into the United States, has also been well exposed. Continue reading

Canada’s role in organizing electoral coups in Middle East and North Africa

By ENVER VILLAMIZAR

usaid-cashTML Daily – ON JULY 18, Canada’s new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Lynne Yelich announced two Canadian projects to train women in electoral campaigning in the Middle East and North Africa, namely in Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen. The announcement comes as the U.S. imperialists are scheming to invade Syria in various ways. Jordan and Lebanon border Syria and the U.S. and Israel are active in Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen. In North Africa, the U.S. carries out drone strikes in Tunisia and NATO forces, including Canada, invaded Libya in 2011 and overthrew its government. Meanwhile, foreign interference continues in Egypt. Continue reading

The royals, US infantile propaganda and the republic

The American social and aristocratic class is as rigidly hierarchical as the British monarchy that the US media seems to deride. In fact, evidence shows that those born into the top one per cent continue to enjoy the benefits of the system far more than those at the bottom. The system favours the top one per cent disproportionately to the detriment of others.

By TONY SEED

(July 25, 2013, revised April 1, 2021) – THE omnipresent American media may be cynically mocking the so-called royal baby fever and paparazzi in the United Kingdom after Kate Middleton gave birth to a son on Monday, but its social structures and aristocratic class system are just as fossilized as that of any feudal monarchy and the House of Windsor with its obscene wealth. According to Bruce Covert of ThinkProgress, a think tank linked to the Obama faction, American children have very little chance of climbing out of the social class they’re born into. Did Hillier’s ‘murderers and scumbags’ comment encourage Canadian arrests of innocent Afghans?

Reporting from the inaugural Halifax International Security Forum, BRUCE WARK* reports that Canadian General Rick Hillier avoided questions of his personal responsibility for the alleged torture of prisoners. Imperialist conferences such as this do solve problems but only contribute to the insecurity faced by the peoples. They lower the norms of human conduct that now pervades international relations. In line with the warmongering agenda of the conference, both Hillier and US Senator John McCain advocated that “US President Obama sends in thousands more troops to establish security.” Continue reading

Realities collide at Halifax War Conference

Demonstrators marched through the downtown city streets from the rally at the Westin Hotel

The inaugural Halifax International Security Forum, co-sponsored by the Canadian government and the German Marshall Fund, highlighted Canada’s more militant role with NATO. ANTHONY FENTON of IPS reports on the gathering of the world’s top military elites inside a fortified hotel in Halifax to discuss NATO’s future at “what is being dubbed a World Economic Forum-style conference.” On the other hand, Haligonians condemned the organisation’s legitimacy, secrecy, and the lack of democratic debate about the increasingly unpopular war in Afghanistan. “Most of the Forum’s agenda is off-the-record and closed to the media.” Continue reading

The McCain tour and the manifest destiny of the US Fourth Fleet

By FIDEL CASTRO

(June 30, 2008) – While I was preparing a reflection about McCain’s relationship with the anti-Cuban terrorist mafia in Miami and other related subjects of historical interest, fresh news was flowing about this character that is being projected by the empire’s hawks as Bush’s replacement: his visit to Colombia and Mexico which will begin tomorrow. It is not possible to avoid them since they confirm the opinions we have held. Continue reading
