In a startling attack, Hezbollah, the Lebanese national resistance organization, punished Israeli occupying forces in the Shebba Farms on Jan. 28 for its assassination of six of its members and an Iranian general inside Syria on Jan. 18. The number of Israeli casualties was 15 according to a report by Al Mayadeen TV.

The strategic equation in the Middle East is about to see major changes. It strongly appears that the Iranian-led Resistance Bloc or Axis of Resistance — comprised of Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, and a cross-section of Palestinian and Iraqi groups — is about to become more powerful than ever before. ANDREW MITROVICA* on Harper’s perverse provision of militarized “aid” to the Kiev junta, the murky role of the billionaire owner of a pharmaceutical company (Eugene Melnyk, BIOVAIL) who’s also the chairman of the Campaign Advisory Committee for “United with Ukraine” … and the wounded children of Gaza.

(Sept. 16) – Before last week, I thought I understood the depth of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s malevolence. I was wrong.
Only now do I appreciate just how ugly this prime minister is. I didn’t think it was possible for even a government as rabidly partisan as this one to add Palestinian children to its long list of enemies. That’s not hyperbole. Truth.
How the Zionists attempt to raise violence, anarchy and chaos to the level of authority and provide it with a legal justification called “lawfare.” JEFF HALPER
Operation Protective Edge was not merely a military assault on a primarily civilian population.
As in its previous “operations” (Cast Lead in 2008-9 and Pillar of Defense in 2012), it was also part of an ongoing assault on international humanitarian law (IHL) by a highly coordinated team of Israeli lawyers, military officers, PR people and politicians, led by (no less) a philosopher of ethics. It is an effort not only to get Israel off the hook for massive violations of human rights and international law, but to help other governments overcome similar constraints when they embark as well on “asymmetrical warfare,” “counterinsurgency” and “counter-terrorism” against peoples resisting domination. It is a campaign that Israel calls “lawfare” and had better be taken seriously by us all. Continue reading

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah during a speech he delivered in Beirut’s southern suburbs on July 25, 2014 | Haitham Moussawi
Beirut (July 25) – Now is not the time to talk about disappointments and the past. It is more important for the Resistance to win in Palestine because its victory is a further step towards undermining the foundations of the other axis that protects Israel. The other axis includes not only the United States and a large part of the West but also a significant number of Arab regimes.
Hezbollah not only supports Hamas, it is willing to do whatever it takes to provide support. Continue reading
Mass action in Nablus, Palestine, July 24 defends right to be.
By K.C. ADAMS
The people of Palestine have been engaged in a courageous battle for their right to be since WWII. Following the war, the Anglo-U.S. imperialists decided to form a Zionist colonial entity in Palestine as a military base to strengthen their empire in West Asia and North Africa. The imperialist front provided arms, other assets and displaced people from Europe to occupy Palestine and force out the indigenous Palestinians from much of their land.
Using overwhelming military power, money and people supplied by Anglo-U.S. imperialism, a Zionist colonial entity occupied Palestine and negated the Palestinian people’s right to be. The Zionist colonial entity’s right to exist and defend itself has required the negation of the right to be of the Palestinian people, the theft of their land, their suppression and brutalization, and the continuing military occupation of Palestine. We reproduce Khaled Meshaal’s exclusive interview with Prof. Adnan Abu Amer of Al-Monitor. Meshaal is head of the Hamas Political Bureau and he explains Hamas’ position vis-à-vis the current Israeli onslaught on Gaza and his organization’s position about the ceasefire and the broader situation. “Any initiative that doesn’t stop the aggression and end the siege on Gaza would not be acceptable to our people. That’s why the Egyptian initiative was rejected.”
