State funeral of a former SS in Kiev

The solemn procession included a Red-Black flag, the flag of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and its military wing, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) that actively participated in the Holocaust and the mass murder of ethnic Poles.

(July 6, 2021) – On Sunday June 13, 2021, the state funeral of former Waffen SS Galizia Division veteran Orest Vaskul, 94, took place at the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, St. Michael Golden-Domed Monastery, in Kiev.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was represented by soldiers from his personal regiment, who paid the last respects to the one who served alongside Nazi Germany. Defence Minister and former military attaché in Washington, Lieutenant General Andriy Taran, was also represented. The coffin of the former SS was covered with the Ukrainian national flag.

‘Remembrance Day’ at Ukrainian Memorial Park in Etobicoke: Which veterans are the Canadian Forces remembering?

The open collaboration of the Trudeau Liberals and nazi-fascist forces. “Canadian soldiers did not fight in World War II to support the fascist cause: they fought to defeat it. Their participation in commemorations such as the one which is organized every year in Etobicoke undermines their integrity and the honour of all Canadians who gave their lives in the anti-fascist war. It deserves a public outcry against it” | Tony Seed

Cadets from Royal Military College, as well as representatives of the Canadian Armed Forces, participate in “Ukrainian Remembrance Day,” in Etobicoke, November 11, 2015, alongside supporters of the fascist Ukrainian formations from World War II and supporters of neo-Nazi organizations that are part of the current coup regime.

A reflection: Canada’s collaboration with the fascist forces and their snipers

By TONY SEED

A poignant post which I have reposted on this blog by Ukrainian journalist Dmitriy Kovalevich struck a chord with me. I had heard about those snipers he mentions, responsible for inciting Ukrainians against Ukrainians. One of them was in Canada just four years ago on a cross-country recruiting and propaganda mission sanctioned by the government of Canada. [1]

On February 22, 2016 the so-called documentary film “The Ukrainians/Les Ukrainiens: God’s Volunteer Battalion” (Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasniy) was shown at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) in Kingston, Ontario. Continue reading

Denounce the ‘new’ defence policy

By TONY SEED

Trudeau’s Defence Minister, Harjit Sajjan, released Canada’s “new” defence policy today. Here are the highlights:

  • A 70 per cent increase in defence spending over the next 10 years;
  • A staggering 62 billion dollar increase over the next 20 years;
  • An increase in the number of fighter jets to be purchased from 65 (under Harper) to 88;
  • An increase in personnel in both the regular and reserve forces;
  • The acquisition of armed combat drones, the deadly hallmark of the Obama war doctrine and whose target is the peoples of this country and abroad, suitable of being “capable of conducting surveillance and precision strikes”;
  • The creation of 120 new military intelligence positions and 180 new civilian intelligence positions, as well as building a “Canadian Forces Intelligence Command” capacity. It specializes Canada’s armed forces in black ops and cyber-warfare, whose target is likewise the peoples of this country and abroad. It prioritizes “the expansion of CAF Joint Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (JISR) capabilities, while enhancing intelligence collection, analysis and fusion capabilities, and supporting and leveraging the expertise of Canada’s defence and security academic community”; and
  • Expansion of the militarization of universities and research; $313 million is allocated for military research for the arms monopolies and $102 million for university and private sector outreach, i.e., recruiting and propaganda. Continue reading

The ‘Holodomor’ and the film ‘Bitter Harvest’ are fascist lies

(Editor’s note: On March 3 the film Bitter Harvest was released for audiences in Canada, having already been released in the U.S. on February 24, 2017. It is now being shown in major cities across the country in large theatres. Its Canadian premiere was February 28 at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. The film’s major promoter is the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. We are reproducing an article by historian Grover Furr on the major theme of the film: falsification of history.

(Author’s note: In this article I rely heavily on the evidence cited in the research of Mark Tauger of West Virginia University. Tauger has spent his professional life studying Russian and Soviet famines and agriculture. He is a world authority on these subjects, and is cordially disliked by Ukrainian nationalists and anticommunists generally because his research explodes their falsehoods.)

The Ukrainian nationalist film “Bitter Harvest” propagates lies invented by Ukrainian nationalists. In his review Louis Proyect propagates these lies.

Proyect cites Jeff Coplon’s 1988 Village Voice article “In Search of a Soviet Holocaust: A 55-Year-Old Famine Feeds the Right.” In it Coplon shows that the leading “mainstream” anticommunist Western experts on Soviet history rejected any notion of a deliberate famine aimed at Ukrainians. They still reject it. Proyect fails to mention this fact. Continue reading

Remembrance Day: Canadian Forces collaboration with fascist forces

Demonstration in Ottawa on October 5, 2015 demanding Canadian government end its support for Ukrainian fascists, which continues to this day under the Trudeau Liberal government.

By TONY SEED and BILL SHPIKULA

Less than three weeks after a meeting between Justin Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland and Toronto Liberal candidates, with officials of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) in Etobicoke preceding the 2015 federal election, the Canadian Forces deployed a contingent of cadets from the Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston as well as members of different branches of the CF to participate in “Ukrainian Remembrance Day” events in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke on November 8, 2015.
