More than 100,000 people gathered early this Saturday morning at 7 a.m. in La Piragua, on the Havana Malecón, in defence of the Revolution and socialism. Army General Raúl Castro Ruz joined the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel and Gerardo Hernandez, President of the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution at the mass rally.

Cubadebate reported, “With the fulfillment of the hygienic-sanitary measures, the thousands of Havanans who attended demanded the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States and the cessation of the destabilization attempts.

“The voices that were raised defended Cuban sovereignty, which is not negotiable, that the country is not for sale, that the streets belong to everyone to share in peace and with respect for the integrity of our nation.”

Díaz-Canel addressed the problems that Cuba faces as a result of the U.S. blockade and emphasized that by involving the people, Cuba is tackling these problems in a manner which favours them. He stated that Cuba will never accept foreign intervention in Cuba’s internal affairs and that “Cuba will continue to march ahead. It is doing so right now, with the first two Latin American vaccines, Abdala and Soberana 02.” He pointed out that Abdala has shown to be 100 per cent effective in serious cases.

Similar meetings took place simultaneously in all the provinces of the country.
